Christoph Abé is Assistant Professor at the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. He obtained his PhD in biophysics where he investigated structures and dynamics of biological macromolecules. In his free time Christoph is conducting artistic experiments on the side. Some of his works have been exhibited at Scaling Ambience (Stockholm, 2018), Karolinska Institutet’s Culture and Creativity week (Stockholm 2018 and 2019), IllumiNoir (Stockholm 2020), and at Fotografiska’s Studio Live (Stockholm 2020).
His art is influenced by his fascination for biological structures and mechanisms of life: from atomic and molecular structures to the formation of cells, biological tissue and living organisms. Using digital photography, he emphasizes elements, shapes, and structures in his original paintings, which result from combining liquid materials with different physical properties. Fantastical and mysterious objects floating in an ethereal environment make up the Noir Series.
